Look Fabulous Forever founder Tricia Cusden openly shared her own skin problems with her audience, many of whom could relate to the challenges of making the most of ageing skin. However Tricia’s polished style at the age of 69 is certainly something to aspire to as she certainly does look fabulous.

Barbara Crisp shared some of her fashion stylist’s secrets and explained how to achieve a capsule wardrobe – one dress, six looks – to take you to the beach or a wedding using a selection of jackets, cardigans and accessories.

This approach is something I strongly believe in. When ladies tell me they cannot afford couture, I ask them how many dresses, jackets, pairs of trousers etc they have in their wardrobe. The answer is usually too many and still they have nothing to wear.

You might choose a beautifully tailored suit for business meetings or interviews guaranteed to boost your self esteem. Power dressing really does work wonders – and doesn’t mean 1980’s shoulder pads! Or you may choose a dress and jacket for your daughter’s wedding or a cocktail dress for a special birthday party.

Whatever the occasion, I always advise my clients to opt for a style and fabric that they will wear again and again. There is no point investing in a couture outfit and only wearing it once!

Couture is an investment but if you add one carefully chosen piece each year to your wardrobe, you will soon have a unique, well fitting capsule collection. And almost certainly badly fitting clothes – that hang in your wardrobe and are never worn – will be a thing of the past.
