Creating a Couture Garment

Exciting news: we have just completed our first vlog, Creating a Couture Garment, for my new series ‘Elizabeth Bessant Talking Couture’. It frustrates me that the term couture is so misused. And I am frequently asked to explain what couture actually is… so I thought I would use film so you can see for yourselves the process of making a couture garment.

In my first vlog, you will get a fly on the wall peep inside my Wimbledon studio where all the outfits are designed and made.

Step by step from my design sketch to the finished dresscoat, you will see my assistants Sam and Rebecca and myself demonstrating different skills.

Over the next few months I am going to use my vlog to answer a series of frequently asked questions and you will see more of my Wimbledon studio and my Knightsbridge Couture Salon.

Many people struggle to find clothes that fit and flatter in styles they want to wear. Having clothes made to fit your unique shape is the answer but the mystery that shrouds couture and the air of exclusivity that surrounds it puts many people off. I have worked very hard to make couture more affordable and relaxed. I want people to feel comfortable with me and have an enjoyable experience resulting in an outfit they are proud to wear to any event.
