Behind the scenes at our autumn photo shoot
Planning a photo shoot is never easy. The first challenge is for me to set a date when my new collection will be complete. Once I am certain I can meet that date, I contact Daniel Babusca, my long standing and very patient photographer.
And once I have a date from him I then confirm the date with the model and everyone else who will be involved – inevitably the date gets moved and I am back to the diary because there are so many issues and people to consider.
Timing is crucial for me as every year I take my new collection to the National Wedding Show which is always late September and the build up to this is very busy.
Finally the photo shoot was confirmed and everyone was ready to go.
Early this September, we all gathered at my salon in Beauchamp Place at 10am eager to get started as there is always a lot to get through in a day. Sam, my design assistant, and myself meticulously made sure each outfit and its accessories were hanging in order so nothing got missed.
The day is always hectic as each look needs styling and tweaking to make sure we get the photos we need for my Mother of the Bride/Occasion wear and Accessories sections of my website. My model was wonderful, patiently and professionally responding to constant instructions to look up, a little to the left etc under hot studio lights. Daniel and Sam, as always, were very calm but for me it is another matter – these are my creations and a lot rests on how well my outfits look on the website. Creativity comes to life in these shoots and I am always nervous!
But I am pleased to say I am very happy with the results and that I have shown my designs on a real woman who is age appropriate. I want women to imagine themselves going to their son or daughter’s wedding in one of my outfits. And to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin – it doesn’t matter what age or what size you are, my mission is to create the perfect outfit and that when you wear it you feel extra special.
