Tips for getting married abroad
When Sainsbury’s Bank contacted me to see if I would be interested in sharing their blog “Tips for Getting Married Abroad” I said yes because many of my brides have overseas weddings.
Planning a wedding abroad? As the weather starts to cool down, it’s no surprise that brides may choose warmer countries to celebrate their wedding day. Organising a wedding overseas can be intimidating as there are many factors to consider, which is why careful research and planning can ensure your perfect day goes without a hitch.
Things to consider include: overall cost, weather, guest list and opening hours of seasonal events. Keeping these things in mind can help you pick the destination that’s right for you. One of the top considerations is budget, and the average UK wedding costs £27,161, whereas the average wedding abroad is £6,585. For instance, the average cost for getting married in a warmer country such as Greece is £700, which is a great option for the adventurous couple who wants a smaller, budget-friendly wedding.
Additional charges to consider include legal documentation, photography and the wedding reception. We suggest looking into getting married during winter as the winter months tend to be cheaper than warmer months, and there are often budget flights offered between European countries.
