Valentine’s Day brides
If you are getting married around Valentine’s Day romance should be the theme of your wedding. That means roses in pink, blush and dark red; delicate lace; and hearts perhaps reflected in the sweetheart neckline of your dress or your earrings.
Red can look rather harsh against a white wedding dress so soften the look with pinks.
A blush pink sash around the waist of a lace dress; a bouquet that weaves a few deep red roses into a profusion of dusty and soft pinks – gorgeously romantic…
Bridesmaids too can pick up the romantic theme with dresses in soft shades of dusky pink and heart-shaped bouquets.
If you are marrying in a hotel or registry office rather than a church, add drama with a dark red velvet dress and a bouquet of roses in red, deep and pale pinks – lips of course must be red!
When Denise asked if I would design her outfit for her Valentine’s Day wedding she wanted something different. As a second time around bride she understandably did not want to wear a traditional wedding dress.
Getting married in this country in February meant the challenge was staying warm but looking stylish. She chose a deep red lace cocktail dress and an ivory coat. I embellished the collar and cuffs of the coat with my signature beading incorporating tiny red and ivory ribbon roses clustered with vintage pearls and red Swarovski crystals. She was delighted with her Valentine’s Day wedding look. The red lace dress has been worn for other occasions since.
Staying warm is a challenge for all brides getting married in this country at this time of year and my new collection includes velvet waist-length capes trimmed with faux-fur and vintage pearls around the neck.
